Part of being a responsible driver in Bend is learning to share the road. Lately, more and more people are getting around on bicycles. There isn't a comprehensive network of bike lanes here yet. That means that these cyclists will be using the same roads as automobiles.
Cyclists, motorcyclists and pedestrians all have a right to be on the road, too. Cars have the potential to do a lot of damage to these others on the road. The best way to prevent crashes is simply practice awareness. Always use side and rear-view mirrors. Understand there could be a motorcycle or bike in your blindspot.
Bikes should be doing their best to meet drivers halfway, by wearing reflective gear and riding with traffic. Bicycles stick to places where cars won't be. Check for bikes before making a left at an intersection. Here at Volvo Cars Bend we want to help our customers avoid collisions whenever possible.
