Your vehicle should be on firm, level ground before you swap tires. With your handbrake engaged, locate your vehicles jack, lug wrench, and spare tire. Before raising your vehicle, use the grounds leverage to partially loosen the lug nuts of the wheel you will replace. Once you’ve used your jack to raise your vehicle, you can fully loosen the nuts, remove the wheel with the flat tire on it and put your spare into place.
Now, tighten your lug nuts, and lower your jack. With all four wheels back on the ground, further tighten the lug nuts on your spares wheel.
